Challenge...GO Team!

...the challenge, no it's not olympic weight lifting but I think a few of us might be pulling those faces in the run up to the Cambridge half marathon. Grimacing in the cold winter months, but goodness we will feel a sense of achievement afterwards. Plus my thinking is we will burn of that christmas turkey much quicker.

So I think we are verging on 15 sign up's to the Cambridge half marathon. Woooo crazy, but great effort and it will be great for us to train together and to have a goal in sight. I am actually a little giddy with excitement with it.

Last night's 'effort' work, the evening which was a little cold (and we haven't even got past October yet) and well my legs... a little sore but hey i thought it was fun. I think from Alan's explanation that type of training helps us push ourselves as we have a shorter distance to run.

In other news...

Alan is meeting at the Pavilion on Sunday at 8am for a rough 6-7 miler if anyone's interested. I am slightly tempted. Nic, Kerry, Rachel and I are doing the Cambridge Parkrun on Saturday, if anyone is interested comment below. This is a 5k route.

Anyway I better shoot only 30mins for lunch. Mikaela x

Cambridge half marathon in aid of cancer research

Hello there my fellow runners,

I posted on here earlier in the week about the 10k Bonfire burn race in Histon on the 6th November and I think a few members are up for it. Well another run has come to my attention, the Cambridge Half Marathon 2012. The run takes place on 11th March 2012 and the official charity is Cancer Research UK. It's the first half marathon to take place in cambridge for 17 years.

It starts out on Victoria Avenue, taking in some of Cambridge's beautiful landmarks, including the River Cam and Kings College, and cross over the finish line into Midsummer Common.

I'm not entirely sure if I'm off my rocker for considering it, but I want a goal to work towards and how great would it be! Soooo just wondering what your thoughts were? I'd love it if a few people were interested and we could work towards something. I still want to speak to our main man Alan about it, but early discussions with the lovely Nikki Nash suggest I might be able to rope her into it.

Love to hear from you,

Commitee meeting tonight and 10k run!

Hi All,

Missed last nights run, hope to be raring to go tomorrow night? How did you get on?

Bit of news, there is a committee meeting tonight. I know it's short notice but if anybody has any discussion points do make a comment below or email me.

Also Theana posted on Facebook group last night about a run in Histon, Cambridge on the 10th November called rather appropriately the 'Bonfire Burn'. It's 10k and look's like a good run. I understand Theana has entered and wondered if anyone else is up for it? I think I am going to commit, I'd like something to work for.
